The Conservation and Restoration Laboratory
The museum contains a specialized
workshop which previously was often at the service of other
institutions of the same type. The entire museum is currently being
renovated, and this includes the adaptation of the rooms intended
for the restoration and conservation of stone monuments, various
metal objects and pottery glass and other materials. In the future,
much improved, conditions and with appropriate modern equipment,
the laboratory will be able to offer better and more rapid
protection of the museum collections, and as necessary, the
archaeological material from other institutions with similar
material. The museum has also traditionally been involved in
manufacturing souvenirs in the form of replicas (particularly
plaster casts) of individual artifacts from the various museum
collections. Space and equipment have also been set aside for this
purpose in the new organization of the museum laboratory.
