Subject:
Recent archaeological investigations of antique necropolises in
the surroundings of Zadar greatly increased the number of known
antique glass artefacts. With the aim of preserving and eventually
presenting these finds, the work on their restoration has been
intensified, with even the most challenging restoration and
conservation procedures carried out. The typology of glass objects
is very broad - from glass cubes, gaming counters, pins and
jewellery to various bottles, jugs, bowls, cups, urns, balsamaria,
droppers and small amphorae originally intended for everyday
use.
The exhibition consists of 22 original reconstructed objects and
12 illustrative posters detailing the context of finds at the Roman
necropolis of Zadar and the history of restoration of glass
artefacts from Antiquity to the contemporary period.
