 After more than 150 years since it was established, today’s National Museum of Lithuania manages collections of more than a million exhibits from prehistory, medieval and modern-day archaeology, ethnic culture and history. Situated in the very heart of the Old Town of Vilnius, our museum attracts tourists from all over the world. At the same time, the largest archive of archaeological material in Lithuania is being visited by scientists and amateurs. Besides the permanent exhibition and dozens of temporary events held in ten specialized departments, the Museum also organizes annual sessions of fieldwork and archaeological excavations. Every year our Museum initiates and takes part in many projects and collaborates with other museums and institutions, as well as with the Lithuanian Archaeological Society in order to produce a high-quality content for both the public and academics.
