Notice of damage caused to the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, after the March 22, 2020 earthquake

In a series of earthquakes, on Sunday, March 22, 2020, the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb suffered damage to the building and severe damage to the permanent exhibition and objects.

At the Vranyczany-Dobrinović Palace on Zrinjevac - the work of Viennese architect Otto von Hofer for the Vranyczany-Dobrinović family, built in 1879, now home of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb - numerous cracks appeared on the exterior as well as the interior of the building.

The building is currently being inspected. The inspection and ensuring of the objects and documentation of the damage caused by the earthquake is carefully practiced by a minimal, necessary number of Museum staff, in accordance with the Decisions of the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia, with the aim of preventing the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
